When I visit my friendly neighborhood fabricator (shout out to Mike Dean from The Top Shop), I’m always amazed at the cool tools they get to use. Those laser-guided saws and precision CNC machines can transfer a digital image of someone's dream into a real-life countertop. And for the hundreds of thousands of dollars invested, you expect to receive such a masterfully crafted piece of work every time.
I’m sure most of you, when checking into a hotel, end up pleasantly surprised to see a granite countertop in the bathroom. Hey, you think, more progress for the industry. Then, to your horror, you look at the detail work.

HOLLIS, N.H. – The Natural Stone Council (NSC) released its first case study today that highlights the environmental advantages of natural stone.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Prism Awards competition for Coverings 2009 is now on, with entries accepted until Jan. 30.
LAS VEGAS – This year’s advertising awards from the Marble Institute of America (MIA) truly went global, with winners from literally the other side of the planet.
