MSI Opens in GA, MD
On Aug. 26, MSI opened its new state-of-the-art showroom in Austell, Ga. completing the launch of the launch of its new distribution facility dedicated to the Southeast region. The 175,000 ft(2) building, is one of the largest stone centers under a single roof in North America.
The Austell distribution center has a total stocking capacity of 15,000 slabs and 6 million ft(2). of tiles. The facility houses six cranes and a host of other capital equipment, and employs more than 50.
“MSI Atlanta is perfectly placed to cater to the needs of the Southeast market,” said Manu Shah, MSI’s CEO. “We can service our customers in eight states from this facility. We are very excited about the way we have grown in this region from a 22,000 ft(2) facility to a 175,000 ft(2) facility in only six years.”
Earlier in August, MSI brought its new Jessup, Md., distribution center online to service Maryland, Virginia, and the surrounding areas. The 85,000 ft(2) facility will be the largest natural stone facility in the region
The Jessup center includes a 4,000 ft(2) natural-stone-flooring showroom with more than 300 colors of stone and porcelain; a 15,000 ft(2) loose slab showroom with more than 150 colors of natural-stone and quartz slabs; and a delivery operation including five overhead cranes and eight loading docks for efficient slab and tile distribution.
“The new distribution center in Maryland will allow MSI to further enhance our product offering and customer service to leading wholesalers and fabricators of natural stone in the region,” Shah said. Both facilities carry the full range of MSI products, ranging from slabs and tiles to landscaping products – including granite, marble, slate, travertine, limestone and onyx. The product lineup also includes glass and stone mosaics, porcelain tiles and quartz-surface slabs.
