IMT’s Pearse Takes Top Honor
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. – Karen Pearse, founder/CEO of Innovative Marble & Tile Inc. (IMT), is the 2002 Long Island Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® in the wholesale/distribution category.
An independent panel of judges chose Pearse from a select group of 26 Long Island nominees and four finalists. The Ernst & Young awards, a national program in its 16th year, recognize business leaders from the United States and around the world.
Pearse will be inducted into the Entrepreneur of the Year Hall of Fame this November at the program’s international conference in Palm Springs, Calif. Pearse is also in the running for the national Entrepreneur of the Year; if chosen, she’ll proceed to the world awards ceremony.
Pearse founded Hauppauge-based IMT in 1981; since then, the company supplied more than 40 million ft² of stone to hotels, casinos, department stores and malls. IMT has international offices strategically located in New York, Italy, Spain, Portugal, India, Korea and China.
