Prism Awards Deadline Near
ORLANDO, Fla. – There’s still time to enter the revamped Prism Awards, held in conjunction with the Coverings trade event … but don’t tarry.
Entries for the fifth-annual competition, now noted as the 2004 Stone in Architecture Awards, need to be submitted by 5 p.m on Jan. 30. As in previous years, the awards are sponsored by Coverings, set for March 23-26 in Orlando.
This year’s competition is coordinated by the Marble Institute of America (MIA) and Architectural Record magazine. Architects and other design professionals are eligible to submit projects completed between January 2000-December 2003.
Entries will be judged by a panel coordinated by Architectural Record. Judging criteria includes a demonstration on original or unusual use of natural stone, incorporating innovative technology, or successfully combining aesthetics with function in a unique and interesting way.
Prism Award winners receive cash. The grand prize is $10,000; residential and commercial first prizes are $2,500 each, and awards of merit in both residential and commercial categories are $1,500. The awards will be announced at the first general session of Coverings on March 23.
The fee for entries is $100 for the first project, and $85 each for additional projects. Entries are being coordinated by the MIA, and must be sent to MIA headquarters in Cleveland
