Polycor Invests In Slabs
SAINT-SÉBASTIEN, Quebec – Polycor, the second largest supplier of natural stone in North America, recently announced the investment of more than $5 million into its 25,000 ft² state-of-the-art stone slab processing installation here.
According to Jean St-Onge, president of Polycor Tiles and Slabs, the investment was made, “to follow the increasing demand of the slabs market, especially with Polycor’s new colors in granite and marble, and to stay at the top in terms of quality and service.
“With this new state-of-the-art facility,” he adds, “we are able to deliver any order from rough blocks to polished slabs within 24 to 48 hours, which is the fastest in the industry.”
The plant, with a slab production capacity of more than 3 million ft² per year, has a number of high-technology features.
“We produce 100 percent of our slabs with new Bideseimpianti multi-wire technology, which make us the fastest plant,” said St-Onge. “We will soon have 100 percent of our slabs clean cut on four edges. With this sawing equipment, the fully automated resin line and polishing line, we are faster in delivery. We also inspect and digitally photograph every slab that we produce, and these pictures are available to our customers.”
